Carolina Beer Temple is proud to announce the latest edition to our family of wonderful places in downtown Matthews to enjoy a fine beer, cider, mead or wine – announcing Seaboard Taproom & Wine Bar located at 213 N. Trade St., Matthews, N.C. 28105 beside our good friends 105 Cigar!

Seaboard_TaproomWineBarBut the Taproom & Wine Bar are only the beginning! We are also planning a microbrewery which is scheduled to open in 2017!

A few questions you may have….

What will you be serving?

Our goal is to create an exciting and educational beer drinking experience. Expect a very diverse tap list consisting of craft beer and international brands.

How Many Taps will you have?

We have 24 taps!

Tell me about the wine!

We will be offering wine by the glass and wine to go. We will have upwards of 1200 bottles of wine to choose from!

Will you be serving food?

We also plan to add a kitchen to the site in 2017 as well. Exactly what kind of food we will be serving is still to-be-announced. In the meantime, we will offer a selection of cheese boards, meats, chips, dips and prepackaged sandwiches. As well, like Carolina Beer Temple, outside food is always welcome at Seaboard Taproom & Wine Bar! Please visit our neighboring restaurants, grab a bite to go and enjoy it at Seaboard Taproom & Wine Bar along with your fresh beer or wine!

Why in the world did you name it Seaboard?

Our goal from the start was to tie the name of our future brewery to the history of the Town of Matthews. The railroad has played a big part in the history and growth of Matthews and the rail line that runs adjacent to the brewery was previously known as the Seaboard Airline Rail Way! It held the name Seaboard from the 1800s until the 1960s. As well, the depot in Matthews, which is now home to the Matthews Chamber of Commerce and Matthews Visitor’s Center, was previously known as the Seaboard Depot. We felt the Seaboard name would help maintain a tie to the history of our proud little town. Take a look around town for the name “Seaboard,” I bet you’ll start noticing it in places you never realized before.

How many seats will you have?

Seaboard Taproom & Wine Bar has plenty of seating and is divided into several zones. Upon approaching our front door you will be greeted by a large front patio with ample seating overlooking Trade St. Once inside, to the left will be our wine bar and to the right our taproom. Again – we have lots of seats. Toward the back is even more seating before you exit out into our courtyard with its four mature holly trees. And then along the side of Seaboard is additional seating, cornhole boards and giant Jenga for your entertainment.

Where can I park?

Being in the historic downtown district of Matthews, Seaboard has no parking spaces of its own. Instead, parking is available along Trade St., along Matthews St., along Charles St. and in the public parking lot that runs between the railroad tracks and Seaboard (there are 90 spaces in this lot).

When will you open?

We are aiming to open the Taproom & Wine Bar sometime in August 2016!

When will the brewery open?

These things take time…we hope to open the brewery early summer of 2017!

What sort of beers will the brewery make?

We intend to offer a wide variety of fine craft beers – however, we expect our core set of beers to be focused on beer styles from the England, Scotland and Ireland.

Will you have live music?

Yes, we intend to have live music frequently at Seaboard – inside, in the courtyard and on the patio!

Can I host parties or events at Seaboard

Yes! We intend to be able to host groups of 40 or more people inside a portion of our taproom and/or in our courtyard.

What will your hours be?

We plan to be open 7 days a week from noon until 11PM, except Sundays when we plan to close at 10M.
