Going above & beyond…

Carolina Beer Temple & Ames St. Marketplace are honored to be nominated for the “Best Bar” award by “Guide to NC.” Please vote here, but if you need a few more reasons to convince yourself why we deserve it, here are a few to ponder…

Carolina Beer Temple & Ames St. Marketplace

No one is doing what we are doing…

“No one is doing what we’re doing!” - this is something we say at Carolina Beer Temple all the time as this team goes above & beyond every day to make your experience a great one!

Each and every day we strive to create a genuine and unique experience for our customers and our community. We strive to ensure our customers have an elevated experience on every visit. And we pride ourselves on building relationships with our customers, our vendors, our neighbors, and our community.

And on top of all the great craft brews you can get at Carolina Beer Temple, we also offer the Ames St. Marketplace, bringing a truly unique experience in the greater Charlotte market - we have something for everyone! — no one is doing what we’re doing!

Ames St. Marketplace

Devoted to Craft

Carolina Beer Temple started from a passion for craft beer and Belgian ales. From the day we opened, to our current selection, absolutely everything we offer is from breweries that are independently owned or meet the definition of “craft” by the Brewer’s Association. There isn’t another bar anywhere in our market that is as dedicated to craft as we are. If it’s not owned and brewed by an independently owned brewery, we will not carry it. — no one is doing what we’re doing!

Always independent brews

Our passion for bringing great craft beers to our customers extends to our road trips to places like Asheville, Raleigh and Wilmington to bring home craft brews from other parts of the state that our customers normally cannot get here. We will bring the brewery to you! In our most recent trip to Asheville, we brought home brews from Cellarest Beer Project and Diatribe Brewing Co. and put them on draft during our weekly Thursday Tap Features. — no one is doing what we’re doing!

A Great Team with a Passion for Craft & Quality

Our team members all share a passion for craft beer and everyone is Cicerone Beer Server Certified. That passion can be utilized in ensuring our customers get the best beer experience when they visit, as our team always has recommendations and can match a beer to your tastes based on the profiles you provide.

It also doesn’t hurt that we have a PHENOMENAL TEAM that is happy to help and glad to go above and beyond!

We are dedicated to ensuring our draft lines are always clean.

We are dedicated to ensuring our glassware is always clean for beer and we strive to ensure your beer is served in proper beer glassware. There are no “shaker” glasses in the house, as we believe this is one of the worst ways to present and serve a quality craft beer.

We are also sticklers about the freshness and quality of the craft beers we serve. If we detect off-flavors, lack of carbonation or other common issues, we will refuse to serve it.

We encourage you to try new things, so our tap list changes all the time!

The Draft Beer Faucets

In addition to the traditional draft beer faucets everyone is familiar with, at Carolina Beer Temple, we also offer craft beers via a Lukr faucet, a Side Pull faucet and a Nitro line faucet. Each of these are specifically designed for specific styles of beer and/or to enhance your overall craft beer experience!

And while we do not have a cask engine (coming soon), we do offer cask beer about twice a month. — no one is doing what we’re doing!

Community & Relationships

At Carolina Beer Temple we build relationships in every direction – with our customers, our vendors, our neighbors, our Townspeople, our delivery drivers… all the way around. Through that strong rapport we spread good vibes through the community, we support them all and appreciate all the support in return.

Weekly we host Sketch Charlotte, a local artists community. Monthly we host the Kiwanis Club of Matthews, along with the Business Leaders of Charlotte (South Chapter). We were the previous home of the R.I.S.E. Society and in recent weeks we have hosted After-Hours events for networking groups such as the Matthews Area Chamber of Commerce, Carolinas Referral Group, Business Leaders of Charlotte (both South and Alumni Chapters), Rotary Club of Matthews and the Matthews Executive Group (MEG), among others. — No one is doing what we’re doing!

As part of our community focus, owner Rob Jacik, currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Matthews Area Chamber of Commerce and previously served as President in 2017.

Event Focused

We began with tap takeovers, where we offered at least four brews from a featured brewery (often local) every week. That evolved into craft beer events focused on styles such as our Dark Matter event, focused on dark beers, First Funk, featuring sour ales, as well as Oktoberfest and many “Meet the Brewer” events.

Over the years our events got larger and larger including Arts & Crafts Pop-Up Markets, Movie Nights and Xtreme World Wrestling shows. Most recently we introduced Dueling Pianos! — No one is doing what we’re doing!

Event focused

Like many other venues we offer Trivia and Live music acts weekly. However, we are also home to a Comedy Night that takes place every other Monday. We have the Ames St. Run Club that meets on Monday nights and a cycling club (Ales & Trails) that meets on Wednesdays.

Check out our Upcoming Events, our Weekly Events, our Live Music Schedule and our Food Truck Schedule.

Our most successful event of the year falls around St. Paddy’s Day. This year’s Shamrock Shuffle featured five partnering bars in the downtown Matthews area, all offering up Irish themed drink specials, food and music. We gave away over 1,000 free t-shirts and hired a shuttle bus to take patrons from business to business throughout the day. — no one is doing what we’re doing!

Shamrock Shuffle

During the Shuffle, Carolina Beer Temple offered a variety of Irish-inspired craft brews, including an Irish-style Stout as part of our Private Label series with Divine Barrel, and cask ale from Town Brewing.

In the months ahead, the Mash-Up Arts & Crafts market will be returning on April 18th , as well as Dueling Pianos on April 25th.

Private Label Brews

We are the only place in the Charlotte market that is teaming up with both local and international breweries to create a line-up of private label “Carolina Beer Temple” branded brews available on draft and in package. Our biggest supplier of our Private Labels brews is “Divine Barrel Brewing” in Charlotte. With them we’ve had the opportunity to offer “Congregation Pale Ale,” “Pulpit Pils,” “Shades of Divinity Black IPA,” “Divinely Iniquitous WCIPA,” “Kellerpils,” “Biertempletoberfesten” and so many more!

Congregation West Coast Style Pale Ale

Our house favorite, “Holy Water” is brewed by Petty Thieves Brewing!

We are also the official “St. Bernardus Bar of North Carolina. ” St. Bernardus, out of Watou, Belgium, brews an exclusive private label Belgian Blonde Ale just for us. This fine Belgian Ale is served from our St. Bernardus tap tower and we are the only place in all of North & South Carolina where you can find it. We named our version “St. Ames Blonde” which is a play on the St. Bernardus brand and the street our business resides on.

St. Ames Brown

Add to this list our Dark Templeweizen Wheat Ale, brewed exclusively for us by the internationally renowned brewery, Gilde Brewery from Hannover, who also has a brewhouse in Charlotte. — no one is doing what we’re doing!

Over the years our private label brews have included collaborations with all of the above, plus Wooden Robot, Lenny Boy, Protagonist, Hopfly, Resident Culture, Keepsake and probably a few others that are eluding me right now.

Philanthropy

At Carolina Beer Temple we are devoted to giving back to local non-profits in our community. There have been dozens upon dozens of fundraisers that Carolina Beer Temple has participated in or hosted over the years, including, but not limited to events for:

— no one is doing what we’re doing!

Marketplace

As part of our entrepreneurial spirit, the space occupied by Carolina Beer Temple is also home to the Ames St. Marketplace and its vendors. We help small businesses get their start or to allow other small businesses to expand with reasonable rent rates, small amounts of capital investment and a guarantee of lots of foot traffic. The Marketplace is currently home to four small businesses whose concepts compliment all that Carolina Beer Temple offers. These include:

Awards

We would love to receive the “Best Bar” award from the Guide to NC, however, while we wait, we are proud to say the trophy case is getting full at Carolina Beer Temple. Our most recent award was received just last month when the Matthews Chamber of Commerce awarded the “Rising Star Award” to Ames St. Marketplace. While Carolina Beer Temple has been around for a while, our new concept, which includes the Marketplace has been operating for less than a year and we were recognized for our immediate impact on the community.
