Above & Beyond - Brewery Road Trips
Our team at Carolina Beer Temple is incredibly dedicated to bringing you the best craft beer experience in the region. A couple members of our team, Matt and Sam, recently made another trip to the mountains to bring back brews you’re not going to find anywhere else in the area!
We began a couple of months ago by bringing back some Terra Nova brews. After tasting how great their brews were, we invited them to come down the mountain back in October for a Feature Friday (sorry if you missed it on October 24th). Now that all those kegs had kicked, we went back for more!
Terra Nova means “new earth” (or “new land”) and they like to put a focus on connecting with nature. They have a production facility in Swannanoa, North Carolina - an area heavily hit by Hurricane Helene - and a tap room on the South Slope of Asheville. We, at Carolina Beer Temple, have noticed how strong their lagers are, but we’ve also enjoyed some of their ales as well (I’m particularly partial to their Black IPA Terra Apparition’s Cloak).
While we currently do not have another event to feature their brews on our calendar, we do have a handful of cans in stock for you to take home and try for yourself - including Dogtown Daze West Coast Pilsner, Waldgeist Marzen and Pine Barrens Italian Pilsner.
Along the way, the guys picked up some Cellarest Beer Project brews. You can find the Cellarest on Haywood Rd., in West Asheville, but if you want to try their craft beers without making the journey, we brought them here for you to try. They specialize in lagers and we will be featuring three of their brews on tap on Friday, November 21st - a Kellerbier, a Pilsner and a Hefeweizen.
Another stop on their travels was at Diatribe Brewing - also in West Asheville. In their short existence (they opened in 2023), they’ve taken home many medals for their craft brews for styles ranging from IPAs to lagers. Meanwhile, head brewer and co-owner, Dave Byer, won “Best Brewmaster” in the Best of the West 2024 awards from Mountain Xpress.
On Friday, December 5th we’ll be tapping a barleywine, a Vienna Lager and a Porter from these fine folks, so be sure to stop by and check them out.
As well, Matt & Sam, made a visit to Archetype Brewing. According to their website, their process was inspired by Belgian brewing practices, is free-form and relies on constant experimentation. We featured their brews this past Friday, November 14th - hopefully you made it out - but if not, we’ll be making another run to Asheville for some more soon.
At Carolina Beer Temple it is our desire to create a fantastic craft beer experience for you on every visit. We often offer rare and hard-to-find brews and occasionally - as Matt and Sam did this month - we make a run to places where great craft beers are being made and bring them back to Matthews. No one else is doing this. So come out and enjoy - we saved you the trip and brought back some great craft beer just for you.
Cheers,
Rob Jacik, President & Owner Carolina Beer Temple
